GAIA is dedicated
to saving lives in Africa
In Malawi, Central Africa, 80,000 people die of AIDS-related illnesses each year, leaving well over 500,000 children alone and orphaned.
Despite this devastation, the Malawi people do not give up, nor can we!
Who is GAIA and what are we doing about this crisis?
The Global AIDS Interfaith Alliance (GAIA) is a non-profit, non-governmental organization which was founded in response to the global HIV and AIDS catastrophe.
What makes GAIA unique?
We have established relationships with grass roots, village-level entities and can therefore rely on the local village women to identify and address the needs of those living with AIDS and create local strategies to sustain their services.
We partner with community and faith based organizations to reach rural areas where most of the people live. The religious groups are frequently the only providers of desperately needed services like hospitals and orphan care.
GAIA has numerous programs to assist those in Malawi who are in need of HIV/AIDS prevention and care:
• Orphan Care
• Women's Empowerment and Microloans
• Youth HIV Prevention
• Home Based Care
• HIV and AIDS Training Conferences
• Hospitals and Clinics
• Nursing Scholarships
• Support of Anti- Retroviral Treatment
• Emergency Food Relief
