Pasadena's Bistro 45 was the setting for "Art Out of the Box," this year's unique fundraiser for Global AIDS Interfaith Alliance (GAIA) to support medical programs for people affected by HIV/AIDS in Malawi. Noted artists Alison and Lezley Saar, Michael Kenna, Joe-Peter Witkin, Joyce Kohl, Pam Keeley and R. Kenton Nelson created the whimsical artworks that had been transformed from cigar boxes for the auction. More than 150 guests attended the afternoon event, which raised $130,000.
