Today GAIA kicked off its first-ever crowdfunding campaign for a new mobile clinic vehicle. Our goal is to spread news of GAIA’s life-saving work and expand our grassroots network of support. As you know, since 2008, our mobile clinics have provided free primary healthcare to over 1,000,000 villagers in rural, remote Malawi, testing and treating HIV, malaria and other acute diseases. Operating from 35 sites weekly, the clinics drastically improve villagers’ access to care. After nearly a decade of daily wear and tear travelling rough roads to provide service, our ambulances are in critical need of replacement.
The campaign, “Wheels for Wellness,” aims to raise $15,000 for a new ambulance, ensuring we can continue caring for the people in rural areas who rely on us. We need your participation in either or both of the following ways:
- Post about “Wheels for Wellness” on your Facebook, Instagram or Twitter. You can view our posts at facebook.com/thegaia and on Instagram under the handle @TheGAIA_Malawi.
- To increase the visibility of our campaign on GoFundMe, we need as many donations as possible in the first 48 hours (now through Sunday at 7 AM). If you are able, please donate at gofundme.com/wheelsforwellness. Any amount however modest – even $5 — or large will help this campaign go viral, and enable us to provide lifesaving care and treatment to some of the poorest people in the most remote regions of the world.
The Malawi Board of Trustees is joining the effort with their own fundraising efforts on the ground in Africa. Together we hope for a huge success, and we thank you for participating!
